My fandom in Pokémon started with the anime, but it was still within the first year the game was being sold. The first episode I saw was when Ash was dressed as a girl under the name of "Ashley", just so he could fight Erika. I figured anything this trippy had to be good, so I watched more until I decided I loved it.
Being really into the anime, I began to have ideas about side adventures Ash and friends would go on. That was fun, but then it changed a bit. What if it were just the Pokémon instead? Afterall, the anime proved it could be done. But this wasn't very easy, so I really didn't go anywhere with it at first. Sometime after the first movie's release, I got it in my head that I wanted to make a fan game, and make one I did.
The fan game was all good fun, but then it finally hit me. Now I know what to base Pokémon stories from! So I finally created a series based on that fan game, taking place on a little island uninhabited by humans, known as Poké Island.
The following series (not counting Poké Island) are quite unique. There are a lot of things that I did for the Poké Island saga that I never attempted before, or have any will to attempt again. It, along with Kirby's Adventures, is the only other series to see full completion. The series started off pretty tame, but the potential of characters allowed me to deal with issues I couldn't be bothered with otherwise. As much as I would rather not create serious works, this one turned out successful.
There are many other things that make the series different from the rest. As of the time of my writing this, it's the only series to have a time span. Specifically, a 3 year period from the beginning of Poké Tales to the end of Poké Legends (of course, characters never looked any different aside from young children and babies growing older). It also took place in the official Pokémon anime's universe, but simutaneously, took place on real Earth (so whatever major events happened at the time in real life may have been touched on). Being a big EarthBound fan at that time too (and considering how I was going to start Poké Island), it referenced the series on occasions, mainly acknowledging the expliots of Ness and friends in the Human World (aka everywhere else). Sounds a lot more convoluted than it was, actually.
The Poké Island saga is my favorite series of all my series, if not tied with Kirby's 1½ Adventures. I was able to think outside the box on this one, and it brings back a lot of good memories.
Poké Island
Updated 3/22/07: Screenshots, junk.
Crappy title to P.Island. Cut me some slack, here, it was 1999.
One day, thousands of Pokémon resident to the Kanto region had mysteriously been warped to an island far away from human recognition. Who could be behind this cause, and will the Pokémon return to their home and beloved trainers?
That's the quick, cheesy story of Poké Island. Poké Island is a RPG-ish fan game (or at least the best I could then manage) based on these events. The main protagonist is none other than Ash's Pikachu. As you travel the island, you meet with friends and foe alike, many of which are also familiar trainer Pokemon that Ash met in his journeys. Thing is, a lot of Pokemon were used to human life, and started becoming more like them in their absense (although the natives sort of already were with houses and what have you). This is shown during the journey when you talk with Vulpix, who starts singing and asks for you to help. Before long she becomes a starlet in Metroise, aka Psyduck City. Misty's Psyduck just requested a city be build on the island somewhere, and before you know it, construction is underway (and finished midway through the game). On top of that, more dumb luck is struck as he becomes the onwer and the founder, although he really doesn't know what he's doing. More silliness like this is throughout the game.
When Pikachu starts, he's told by a mysterious voice to that it has the answers he seeks, but first he needs to find the Elementals, pretty much orbs of the then 15 Pokemon elements. These Elementals were held by other Pokemon Bosses, who were given extra abilities or false evolutions due to over exposure (some bosses include Arboreon, Psychu, and Flame Sludge & Lava Drop (Muk and Grimer)). Eventually, the voice is revealed to be Lady Mew, the guardian of the island. She tells him to find the rest of the elementals before he can face the one who caused the problem. While the Elementals power Pikachu and his friends up (giving them abilities MUCH stronger than any official game could comprehend), it also throws everything off balance, and collecting them all results in overexposure illness to Pikachu, as well as the potential of the Elements causing something devasting to happen to the Earth.
That's pretty much the story, save for the end. Let's just say they all won. Poké Island was going to be a game made with PK Hack at first, being an EarthBound loon. However, ROM hacking is not my bag, wasn't then and it ain't now. Not understanding anything, I just used some old school drag and drop program. The end result is crude and glitchy, but fun nonetheless (if you don't stray to far off course). I'm glad I didn't use PK Hack, or else I'd pretty much be stuck with the same areas and the same story progressing flags. I couldn't make stuff like an undersea or outer space area, for example. Although I DO wish I had the battle system... mine sucks. Since it was going to be a PK Hack game, though, a lot of the artwork I did is very EarthBound like, as well as the BGs I ripped, so it still looks kinda EBish.
This game led to the inspiration of Poké Tales, and all locations, as well as some characters return. However, PT comes after PI, so everything was assumed to have been okay, and Ash's Pikachu's efforts becomes the stuff of legends to those on Poké Island.
Now, before the question arises, no. I'm not making this game available. It's just too unstable. Unless I completely overhaul everything and do it again from scratch using a much better program, it'll never happen. That's why I just went through the story the way I did, but notice how I never gave the direct ending...
Screens: Note - These probably make the game look like it plays better than it actually does. At least that was the impression I got. Mouse over for info.
Someone asked me that if I had redone the game, what would the sprites look like? Well, not like the above screens. Those are both crude and a little too similar to EarthBound. Now I'd make them look like Pokémon, but I would make sure they don't lose a MOTHER feel. After all, that IS one of the main points. I also said with MOTHER 3's release, it'd go in that tradition instead.

Boredom can do many weird things to a person. It just came to me. A story about a lonely Nidoran female, finding a mate. Keep in mind I was a big Nidoran female (and Vulpix) fan at the time, and wasn't sure if the official anime was ever going to use her (obviously this is before the Orange Island saga). I really liked the way it turned out, so I did a follow up "episode". It was when I was finished here that I was ravenous for more, or rather to make more. Already having the location set, I decided to go back and make proper introductory episodes to this series, and Poké Tales was born.
Following in the footsteps of what I titled "The Lonely Nidoran", the concept of Poké Tales became clear: Stories about EVERY Pokémon, and the lives they have that humans don't know about. It was important to me that every Pokemon got equal coverage, which I regrettably wish the official anime handled better (lousy...). Because of this concept, it really led to slightly non linear series. One episode could be based on Onix in the mountains, and the next was on Shellder in the sea.
That kind of freedom, however, led me to taking a different route, as well. I decided to just let things go as it would. If a Charizard saw it fit to mangle and devour a Pikachu, for example, then fine. Based on the vast characterizations of the cast, some being more wild and others domesticated, I messed around with a lot of themes. Some of these including (but not limited to) separation, poverty, abandonment, betrayal, death, growth, friendship, love, lust, power, depression and suicide, relationships, etc. Considering my brain didn't explode I'd say I was able to handle it. =P
In between stories of Oddishes, Grimers, and an ever powerful Porygon, there actually was a semblence of a consistant storyline. The main storyline starts on Eevee Island (west of Poké Island), and follows an evil seductress Flareon, Scarlet* (who is distinguishable in that she always has Manga style eyes above all else), and her want to become the queen of all Pokemon. Kinda like Rouge the Bat of the Sonic world, she's actually a lot smarter than she would appear, having her own lab where she conducts tests and experiments on Pokemon (trying to create her own, in fact). She learns of a meteor (think Kryptonite) that is said to hold a great amount of energy. However, this meteor was disposed of very long ago because of the energy imbalance and the effect it had on the Eevees. She then learns that a shard of this meteor was actually kept by one of the explorers back then, and was passed down over generations as a pendent. From there, the search begins to find the meteor shard, destroying anyone and everyone who would oppose. A small Eevee family get word of this, and know that her arrival is imminent. Before she could ever search them, the parents give the pendent send their 4 year old** son (who's name is just Eevee), and send him off on a tour cruiser heading to Poké Island (it's not all bad, he gets to travel in style =P). Eventually he ends up in Poké Forest, where he makes his stay with a motherly Nidorina who adopts him (assuming the worst may have happened).
So generally, the main storyline is about Scarlet's lust for power, and the constant hounding on Eevee's behalf when she finds out he has it. However, she's not the only one who wants power. Mewtwo, still disillusioned, wants power as well. And once he gets word of the meteor shard, looks like little Eevee's in for more than he bargined for.
A second storyline is based on a group of orphans, known as Team Pika. Bounded together by the common fact of seperation and abandonment, they strive to do their best and travel the world, someday to reach the status of the ones who have saved Poké Island once before. A lot of the stories followed these guys. They also create a temporary residence in Poké Forest.
Quick info on Team Pika: Pikachu's the leader, and founder of Team Pika. He strives to be like the great Pikachu that belongs to Ash, and believes in training rigorously daily. Bulbasaur is stubborn, but tough, brave and reliable. He serves as the team's "muscle". Squirtle doesn't add much to the team, outside of carrying excess supplies, but he's usually jolly. He'll fight the good fight when needed. Charmander the youngest group member, has a vivid imagination and is quite naive, but is easily spooked. He likes to eat, and is strangely able to make accurate preminitions whenever things are eskew (such as telling who's untrustworthy). Clefairy serves as the brains, and usually carries her laptop around. She's also the cook. She really only appears sweet, but she's quite snappy and will bring the boys down to earth when they start acting up. Meowth is the treasurer, and holds on to the money within the group. He's also the Pokémon version of Brock, in that every girl he sees he makes a mad dash for, only to have Clefairy knock sense into him later. This occurs less often in the following series, though, after he gets a girlfriend.
Other quirky stories include more adventures with Ash and friend's Pokémon, Lady Mew taking a sick day, a human scientist finding the island (and being tormented for it), a literally tongue tied Lickitung, the worlds strongest Magikarp, alien invasions, the extremely dangerous MissingNo, the legendary birds being shown in a less than glourious way, the antics of Rosie La'Vee (a spoiled valley girl-like Flareon) and her younger siblings, and Pokémon myths and misconceptions like the curse of a Ninetales (although this was intended to be more comical than say in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon).
This series ended before the official anime ended the Orange Island saga, and with no real word on 2nd generation Pokemon or even another game series (aside from what was available), there weren't any initial plans for another series when this one concluded. However, that would shortly change once word was recieved that Ash's adventures would continue into Johto...
*Scarlet is actually a borrowed character, so to speak. Several years ago, I had asked if I could use her character (I forget her name, but if you're out there, thanks again), and with the green light, I pretty much made Scarlet my own, even though she was still an evil seductress with manga style eyes and a hairstyle (just in a different story now =P).
** For simplicity's sake, in this series, Pokémon growth is about the same as human growth (save for small bugs), although birthing was quicker. Aside from the fact that it's shown that Pokémon generally live longer lives than some boring house cat, I really don't care to be all THAT specific in a series of sentinent creatures capable of building cities and using technology.
Poké Legends Note: Some artwork may contain extra info when moused over.

Poké Legends is a direct sequel to Poké Tales, starting exactly where Tales left off. The premise is generally the same, random stories for all Pokémon, but with 2nd generation Pokémon.
Also like Tales, even more issues were covered, especially with the intoduction of Dark Pokémon. Stuff covered here include a higher death rate, genocide, increase of technology leading to the deterioration of nature, overpopulation, temptation, infidelity, innocence (and a loss thereof), and even way out there things like pre mature birthing and refereces to satanism. I promise you I wasn't disturbed back then, but it was definately a lot darker than even Tales was.
Alright, main plot. A new island is discovered by the inhabitants of Poké Island, called Neo Island. It is overpopulating, so these foreign Pokemon start to make their way over to Poké Island, and in some ways, causes an imbalance in PI's environment. Outside of this, though, there is a forbidden zone of sorts on Neo Island, a place forever shrouded in darkness. A lot of Dark Pokémon and Pokémon of malicious intent live here (not to say all dark Pokémon are evil, though), under the rule of a Sneasel named Nyuura (yes, her name is her Japanese name, and she is distinguishable by having two feather like ears instead of one). Nyuura's intial plan was to expand the dark zone that she lived in for herself and her followers, but as the series continued, her goals became greater and more malevolent, such as turning Neo Island into a giant Dark Pokémon zone, then to turning the entire planet into (literally) a living Hell, finally to just ending the world in general. Using technology, she was also able to intercept satelite signals and make threats worldwide, even having special signals tranlate to human speech pertaining to that part of the world (like in Spanish or in Arabic or English or Japanese).
This grim future was unclear, but many Pokémon knew the day would come, including Xatu, the Three Dragoness, and Celebi, who is the guardian of Neo Island as Lady Mew is to Poké Island. Scarlet, who turned from a evil lifestlye at the end of Poké Tales, becomes something of a priestess (mainly for self atonement reasons and the like). Although unable to see into the future, she is able to sense a disturbance. It wouldn't be long before a young Chikorita girl would find her way to Scarlet. This girl is Chicolita Chamomile, (the younger sister of Chikorita Chamomile) who was looking for her older sister that just up and left one day. Chicolita would always be tormented by vivid, yet abstract nightmares of the future (in other words, they were pretty graphic, but it was always in some arbitrary location). The end of each dream usually resulted in her own death, after which she'd wake up screaming and crying. When Scarlet caught word of this, she knew this Chikorita was special, and could intepret her dreams to prepare for a future that she had intially sensed. Gathered with other such Pokemon around the planet, the day would come where Pokémon everywhere would have to get together and stand to this opposition.
Depressing as the main story may seem, the usual stories of awkward fun followed too. This mainly occured in the other side plot, again involving Team Pika's travels, this time to Neo Island. While Neo Island is mainly overpopulated and overwhelmingly technical (much to Celebi's disapproval), there were some strange towns there such as one where everything was based on Mideval times, a town known as Salem Town where witch trials and stake burnings still took place, and a city that seemingly was built just to be an overpriced tourist attraction.
Stories about 2nd generation Pokemon include a female Girafarig who has a male tail, Porygon 2's rivalry with Porygon, the Wobbuffet who knew too much, the mysteries of the Unown, Chikorita's obsession with Meowth (TP), forbidden love between a Houndour and a Flaaffy (when Houndour see the sheep pokémon as prey), a young Totodile who's mother and father were killed by human hunters, a Sentret who wants more than anything to join Team Pika, a ditzy Miltank nurse, and even a Delibird christmas special.
Because of the returning 1st generation Poké characters, though, much more character development occured for familiar cast members. Eevee shows growth and self dependance, especially since he's getting used to being chased (even by Nyuura's followers), Parasect's Bug Squad expands and tries its best to do good (but still end up getting in the way more often), the once generic Eon Trio (aka Eevee Sisters sans youngest sister Joy) have unique personalities, learning that beauty and riches runs in the La'Vee family (which would explain why the oldest sisters are spoiled), Nidorina's loving nature grows and shows through her love for children (adopts Totodile too) and her husband, Nidorino also becomes more loving and less avoidant of his wife, etc. Along with this, a lot of Pokemon find that they have unique abilities that make them stronger than many other Pokemon of their kind (such as Ash's Pikachu), which also can grant them with additional moves that wouldn't be considered possible, let alone imaginable.
The series ends well, but not without its casualties. Nyuura uses a devastating surprise attack to completely destroy Neo Island sooner than many ever expected, and she was therefore given a great advantage against those who opposed her. With the battle over, Neo Island more or less has to start over again from the beginning. The epilogue for the series showed everyones lives going back to normal or getting better, but at the same time, was also a farewell for a lot of familiar cast characters. Many of them went back home or decided to travel far beyond the islands, making for a very quiet, lonely feeling at the end.
So what happens now? Is it over? Yes, it is. I actually ended this series long before the official anime put an end to filler induced Johto seasons. And I should say I was glad, too. I wanted this series to go out in it's prime, not drag on forever like the real deal does. Secondly, I really don't think I could top this, what with the near apocalyptic circumstance that this series faced. The next villan would be lame or a copy in comparison. Thirdly, by not continuing, characters become timeless. I've gotten used to characters like Eevee being at a finalized age of 7, and no one wants to see Eevee when he hits those awkward adolescent years.
Although the canon story is complete, I still continue to draw and use these characters (well, they're pretty hard to forget) in stupid little doodles or comics that don't make sense. Usually, I continue along in their 'time capsule', a world where Pokemon beyond the second generation don't exist. Recently, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon has obviously been an inspiration, considering one of the more recent logos I made. In the future, though, I may pay the Poké Island saga a bit of a tribute...
Carmela: ¡Alcance las Estrellas!
New. Added on 3/22/07

Suddenly, it happened. A young boy named Daniel awakened to find out that he is now a Mudkip.
So what? This story is about Carmela!
Carmela: ¡Alcan(c/z)e las Estrellas! is a new web comic featured on Aqua Bunny. The idea for making this comic came about in a number of ways. Firstly, I had thought about doing something with Mystery Dungeon anyway. I really wasn't going to make an alternate reality for the Poké Island world, so I used my copy of the game for inspiration instead. Secondly, this allows me to make a new Pokémon series that includes 3rd gen (and a small bit of 4th). Poké Island is forever stuck in 2nd gen at highest (not that that's bad, 4th gen is something awful and I can't imagine it'll get better). Third, Aqua Bunny needed something to call its own, something exclusive.
The main characters, the major players of Rescue Team Epsilon, are the human-turned-Pokémon Daniel, a Chikorita named Lilia, and the Nidorina-to-be Carmela. The story loosely follows both the game's story and actual events that happened in game. Because the story's focus is not on Daniel (as Carmela would put it, you've heard it all before), the pre game story is not really important. Most of the fun happens post game, where I'll be taking liberties and adding in stories that don't (and wouldn't) exist in the game itself.
When I began my game, I really couldn't imagine a situation where I would be the main character, so I played it like it was the story of someone else. By doing it this way, it allowed me to come up with characters and personalities better, which are used for the comic.
Daniel is a young boy who actually likes his life as a Pokémon instead. He imagines it's easier than life was as a human, but he'll soon find out it's not all it's cracked up to be. He's a bit of a complainer, but he's generally a good kid.
Lilia, at lot like her game personality, is very upbeat, optomistic and just all around happy. She likes to bring out the best in people, and really wants to lend a hand to those who are in need of help. She, however, is very sensitive, so her feelings get hurt without much effort. She'll mark the second Chikorita character to surpass the general stereotype. Then again, Daniel and Lilia are both pretty young and naive, so she doesn't develop any crushes or anything.
Carmela is inspired by a lot of things. First of all, the feminine 'a' at the end of Nidorin'a' reminds me of the spanish language, and how words can be masculine or feminine. From there, I recall having memories of latina Nido[females], and giving them hispanic names (this had to be years ago). And then THAT came about due to the area I live in. Girls like Carmela are common, and I'll admit it some of the things they do/act crack me up. There's something about the personalities and attitudes that have a lot more life and energy than just some ordinary girl. This really seems to fit Nidoran's self description of "small but tough".
Anyway, Carmela herself is exactly the same, for better or for worse, as some of the girls I grew up with in high school (etc). Fairly attractive but scary all the same because they'll chew you out with no provocation. She says what she wants and isn't exactly well mannered, so for the sake of her character she'll probably use mild swear words (anything bigger would be blanked out). Unlike the rest of her gang/old friends, though, she dreams of more. She knows that there has to be more to life than living in the ghetto that is Thunderwave Cave, and wants out of her rut to better herself. She has a fairly thick accent (you'd just have to imagine it) so she doesn't speak perfect English. It's not exactly broken, just slurred. She also speaks quickly, so words tend to run together. For those who are particular, she speaks Mexican-Spanish.
The one thing I love about Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is that it's finally a game of fair play. Okay, maybe not so much realistically, but there is absolutely NO excuse NOT to play as your favorite Pokémon (unless it's Ditto). You don't have to use a cheating device to make your personal favorite the best darned Pokémon in the universe. When you can finally trump Groudon with Caterpie, aahh, that's livin' the dream! I still don't see why people even think having a team with ubers and overused Pokémon is necessary. That said, this comic will also showcase some of the cheaper moments in my game (in a more entertaining way). However, there'll be limitations and such for the comic's sake, as invincibility isn't very interesting. Also, because the Mystery Dungeon world is an alternate reality anyway (while Poké Island represented the real world, insomuch as a real world that has Pokémon and MOTHER ties can get), expect a few changes in some of the more unique Pokémon. Ideally, this comic is supposed to be just like almost everything else I do. Strange and silly because it's a cartoon, and cartoons don't have to make sense!
Poké Isle Miscellany
Pokémon de Panepon:PT Ed. Updated as of 3/23/08
With the kinda work I put into the P.Isle series, you'd think I was obsessed. Well, I was. So much so that I figured a Panel de Pon (that's Tetris Attack to you westerners) version of Poké Tales was a necessity. Oh yeah, as though PK Hack wasn't enough, I wanted to hack Tetris Attack too. Granted, this is much later (obviously, Poké Island would've had to be complete by this point). I wasn't quite satisfied with Pokémon Puzzle League (it being the corporate shill that it is), so I felt I could do better (by hacking an already made game, which actually isn't that much better but whatev).
Having not learned one thing from PK Hack, hacking an SNES ROM that doesn't even have dedicated specialists like EarthBound does was even more difficult. Pfft, screw that. Nowadays I just play Panel de Pon on my GCN. It's the best version anyway.
That said, I may not recall how long it took me to work on the art in the day, but I know that it took me a while, and I'll be darned if I don't use them somehow. So what I did for no reason recently was make mockups modifying gameplay screenshots of Tetris Attack and replacing it with what would've been used instead if I had anything to say about it. The artwork is kinda crude, kinda not, because aside from the obvious fact that it's old, I also tried to mimic an official style (which turned out better in some cases and not what I wanted in the more "Sugimori-deviated" characters).
So here ya go. Mockups of Pokémon de Panepon: PT Edition. No, the game DOES NOT exist.Yes, I have to point that out because someone will inevitably ask.
In Panel de Pon, or at least the earlier games before they went skinless and boring, characters would sit at the top of the screens in VS mode. In Tetris Attack they just moved when you won, lost, got attacked, chain/comboed or did nothing at all. Panel de Pon's were a bit more elaborate, main separating chain and combo, and then an animation for attacking itself. I went further and added two extras, pause screen and panic (when you are just one row from the top and the panels start bouncing. Panic music normally plays when at two). Whether or not I could've hacked these in is a mystery, now, but hey I always tend to go above and beyond anyway, so...
PdP has faceboxes for characters when you select them. I just picked some of them (that I didn't use for mascots above) for display. You know, it kinda sucks that I'd go through all the trouble of spriting stuff just to never use it. Maybe you guys can use these for avatars, I dunno. Maybe I'll add more later.
New March '08 Here's a collague of all the faceboxes of the characters that were to be in. As you can tell, this was conceptualized really early. The only ones I never got around to drawing back then were Mewtwo and Lady Mew.
Again, the artwork for this game was to look semi-official for its time (while trying to keep the character's actual appearence intact). This was the most obvious for the window backdrops (the playfield, in other words). Here's a few of my favorites.
Pikachu (undoubtably the most official looking. Man, I'm still proud of this one) Team Hope (Outside of Nido bias, this picture of Nidorino rocks your world. Sugimori probably couldn't make a cuter-official Nidorino) Hyper Team (Eevee and Psy. I just love how they turned out. They're ready for some serious action)
If you've been to Creative Worlds long enough, you'll know that when it comes to Pokémon, some characteristics never change. Granted, most of them got a start from the official show, but some start from Poké Tales/Legends, or are enforced by them.
A: Henceforth, all Nidorina/oes are drawn cutely?
I'll beat this in your head one last time. I was not a Nidorina fan at first. Nidoran female, yeah. But, I did feel sorry for her because she seemed awfully neglected. However, before any Pokédex information proved that Nidorinas are usually gentle, I was under the impression that they were... snappy to say the least. For Poké Tales, I created a Nidorina who was different. At first she was the same mean ol' 'Rina, but she had deep emotional issues she wouldn't let go of. Despite her original attitude, she looked different. In fact, rather cute. This is based on some sort of evolutionary...mishap. The end result is a younger looking, much less intimidating, somewhat Nidoran-like Nidorina. At the end of the same episode, when she gets a new outlook on life, she starts to become friendlier until by the middle of Legends she's the most loving character in the series. Her looks often grant her excess attenion, as most people consider other 'Rinas "Hags". It also makes her a rarity, and even gave her the opportunity to be a movie star. In the end, though, it never really effects her modesty and she's consistantly madly in love with her husband.
Nidorino is a different story. His evolution was normal, but he still looked younger and different. This was of course intended.
Because of his looks, during his younger years he'd be the target of girls affections, but he couldn't really understand why the rest of his kind were a bit more rough around the edges. He also has a gentle, if not somewhat cowardly nature (which will easily turn to defensive and tough when his family is in immediate danger).
With this, technically Nidorina and Nidorino of Poké Tales/Legends should be the only cute-young 2nd stage Nidos in existance, if not an extreme rarity. However, it's no longer a problem now that we've got DNA bending Pokeblocks. =P Seriously, though, because I grew so used to drawing Mr. and Mrs. Nido, it became a habit that was hard to break to go BACK to drawing an official style 'Rina/o. Granted, even my cuter regular Nidorina still looks different from Mrs. Nidorina, (unlike Mr. Nidorino) because of her evolution, but still. Today, I'm getting better at drawing official style again and knowing the difference, but now I actually prefer a cute style and believe perhaps there are more naturally cute second stage Nidos.
Want proof? Nothing like crude drawings that don't help the point much. Here's an old Nidorina/o comparison pic I drew back in '99. Ignore the fact that I couldn't draw. Also remember that this was before any "'Rina's are actually nice" Pokédex excerpts. 2nd Stage Nido Comparison
B: Why do Chikoritas fall in love? or It's all about me.
So let's talk about my girl Chicky... assuming it is a girl. You've seen these examples, and you should know where it started. Ash had a Chikorita who had a crush on him and a vendetta against everyone else. It obviously impacted me to have carried it on for such a long time (though, surprisingly, it doesn't affect Bayleefs). Poké Legends continues in this obvious suit, with Chikorita Chamomile following both trends. When she arrived on Poké Isle, she got lost in all the excitement, and with Meowth nearby (who can't resist cute girls), he helped show her around. Chikorita was quite taken by this Meowth who would take time out of his schedule to help an oh so poor girl such as herself, and was instantly convinced that they were soul mates. Meowth of course isn't too keen on this idea, he just hooked up with Rosie, after all. So it's pretty much one sided, although as the series progresses Chikorita makes more and more of a greater impact on Meowth.
Chikorita appears to be a sweet girl, and she is, shy too, unless you're related to her. Chicolita knows her sister well enough to know that she only cares for herself. And at the moment, nothing else was more important to her than Meowth, not even her younger sister or other family members' well being.
Given these antics coupled with Ash's once owned Chikorita, it became hard to resist tagging the same attributes to each Chikorita afterward. There are now two exceptions to this rule. Chicolita and Lilia. Lilia's too young, naive, and energetic to care, and as for Chicolita, how many prophetic culinary 12 year old Chikoritas do you know of?
C: Porygon and Magnemite, bound by circuitry.
I just can't have one without the other, man. There's no exciting backstory to this, though. In Tales, it just started with them both being artificial. The end. However, as habit would have its way, I always pair these two up. It just makes sense.

Updated 3/22/07. Admittingly not as much as I could have gotten, though.
Enough of the yakkity yak, am I right? You wanna see more bad to mediocre drawings. X_x Well, some of them are good, if not recent. As usual, click the links for pics.
Psi-Butterfree, nicknamed Psy for short. He's been in the series since Island. Psyduck (Misty) Nidorina and Eevee drawings (old but cute!) Needles, drawn with charcoal. This was an assignment back in high school art. I loved the series so much I submitted characters from it for grades. BTW, Needles is Nidorino/a's first born son. Nidoran now with cookies! Nidoran is actually a great baker. Worried Nidoran. Drawn not too long ago. Pikachu's gonna be sore tomorrow... Rosie and Meowth Snuggle Public Service Announcement! A doodle collage. I have a lot of drawings for this series. Team Pika Poster. I drew this I don't know how long ago and it's STILL on my wall today. Obviously, fan games aren't enough. Newer below: "Like, Totally!" Brief story. I was at some point going through an Eevee Sisters phase earlier in my life. So much so that I bloody made a desktop theme of them (this is was for my Desktop computer, which I've had longer than the laptop). Icons, wallpaper, sounds, and even a short screen saver animation. Yeah, but since then I long changed it and most of that stuff is gone/doesn't work. I recently changed back since my Desktop's wallpaper was on Ralts and Co + Mawile forever (long after I stopped giving them the time a day), and thought "might as well add the wallpaper to the list of 'I'm a Poké Island nut!'". TRICK QUESTION: If you're obsessed with your own creations/concepts, does that make you a narcissist? Just an Ordinary Girl. At least, that's what poor Chicolita wanted to be. I drew this on Flash v.4 years ago (as if Flash v.4 wasn't a give away), then printed it out because I love my stuff that much. =P I lost the flash file, but here's a scan of a low-res print... Mayor Raichu. Green Town's current mayor.
*You may have seen these already, but these are actually remakes of older Poké Tales/Legends strips. You never know just when and where this series pops up.
Animated junk:
Eevee Sister Animatics- During said EveSis phase, I made a Flash cartoon with them. I'm pretty sure it predates Sugar High. Regardless, I made a lot of test scenes with them, making sure I got stuff right. Here's a running test, where I pretty much used the same body for all of them, saving production time. I also put up the prototype version of the opening. No, I'll never put up the animation itself. I'm taking that one to my grave.
As mentioned previously, this series often references MOTHER, or specifically MOTHER 2/EarthBound, because supposedly the chosen four's war against Giygas took place in the same universe. Usually, though, the references are just jokes or doodles.
